Beginning Your Journey of Self-Compassion
From True Self Compassion
Our body is a vessel for Love to work through.
When we allow ourselves to fill with the Love that is already inside of us, we move things. Emotions, energy, physiology, blood, thoughts, etc. We move through grief. We move through despair. We move through anger, suffering and resentment.
We fill with the Love to remember an aspect of Self that has been long forgotten, for we are Grace itself.
This is a key point! Each of us has a distinct mind-body composition. Therefore, how we connect is going to depend on our Self.
I can't tell you how to contact your True Self, all I can do is give you permission, and a few tools along the way. I know what works for me, but only you can figure out what works for you. At the same time, many of you will immediately take to these mind-body rituals and wonder how you ever lived without them!
There are millions and millions of ways of connecting with the Consciousness that shoots through our nerve pathways and activates Life Force throughout the body!
All you need to do is find one, a first step.
By now, there has already been a voice inside your mind or heart, telling you what you should do to connect with your True Self on a more intimate level. Words are words, and you'll have to find the ones that work for you. Higher Self, Innate Intelligence, Holy Spirit, Soul, whatever word or thought that helps you to feel this force moving through you. Always, this force of Love is keeping your body in a state of self-adapting, self-renewing and self-healing. Whatever makes you feel like that, use that.
Whatever that is for you, know that it has been waiting for you. It has always been waiting for you, perhaps for a very long time. Maybe now is not the time to give it a name, but it is definitely time to do something!
Grab a pen and a paper, or even a napkin!
Write down what comes to you:
Do you want to give your Higher Self a name?
Is there something you can start doing to form a more intimate relationship with this soulful aspect of Self?
What do you want to say to this innate expression of Spirit within you?
Make a commitment to your Self, here and now, to take this first step, however that looks for you.
Do not base it on what others deem socially or religiously acceptable. Do not judge your Self, do not mislead your Self. Trust the voice. Trust the feeling in your chest that emphatically tells you, "Yes!"
This is the first step, one of many we get to take on our healing journey. This path leads us to our True Self and in the beginning, it is simply a matter of beginning the process of filling up our cup. This, of course, will be done in the way(s) your mind-body is most receptive to. It will look different for everyone, which on this physical plane is sort of the point.
Going on a bike ride as the sun rises
Cooking with mindful awareness and reverence
Using chakra stones, crystals, and burning incense
Praying before dinner
Sitting down for five minutes to breathe
Exploring a new trail or place
Whatever that thing is, that thing that has been pestering you for days, weeks, months, years... do it! You deserve it.
Keep this practice to yourself the first three times you do it.
Something magical happens when we begin to develop an inner intimacy without having to let everyone else and their mother in on the gig. Embrace this Self intimacy. Bathe in it, soak it up, and drink it in. Do not tell others that are not ready to hear it. Honor thy Self, knowing that this is the first step into an intimacy that your Soul has always craved.
We can run into all sorts of external resistance very quickly when we tell others of our intentions or actions. The old patterning runs deep, in your family and in your friends. Be aware that there are some people who may never escape the "self-less" paradigm in this lifetime.
When we submit our Self to others and the attachment of external validation, we often find our Self dancing around our True Mission.
Dancing around like a sad joker, doing everything except walking directly where we need to go. To form this innate relationship, we do not need to move around others or even follow others. This innate intimacy is inherent to our Soul, mind, heart, and body. Every single one of our cells has the capacity to receive and express Love. Stay true to your Self and follow through on your commitment of Self Compassion. You deserve it!
Love is the universal language of Spirit.
The only way we find how to express it is by starting the conversation.
Self Compassion is a necessary component of the embodiment of Consciousness. We must settle into our mind-body to begin absorbing this Love into us. This happens when we open our heart to and for our Self. The first step is creating the time to do this.
When was the last time you had an intimate experience with yourself?
When was the last afternoon you took off to pursue an interest or passion?
How often do you let yourself enjoy your favorite pleasures with no guilt, shame or sorrow?
I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how nice it can feel to truly care for your Self. To fill with the infinite energy of Love and Light is a worthwhile endeavor. Truly, we get there one step at a time, always expanding our capacity.
When we stop looking over our shoulders and simply receive, the fruits of Grace enter into our life.
