Creating Your Personal Sanctuary for Practice

"The space you create becomes a physical anchor for your intentions. When you step into your sacred space, your nervous system knows it's time to drop in and do the work."

The Purpose of Sacred Space

Your sacred space is not about perfection—it's about accessibility. The goal is to create a dedicated area that makes it easy to show up for yourself consistently. When your practice space is ready and waiting, you remove the friction between intention and action.

Remember: Give yourself Grace. You don't have to be perfect every day, but you want to try your best and get back into rhythm when you fall off. This is why accessibility matters—it's about making it easier to return.

Essential Props for Your Space

Having your tools ready and accessible eliminates excuses and supports your practice:

Rolled Up Towel

For lordotic molding—essential for passive spinal extension and opening the front body energy centers.

Light Dumbbells

For shoulder balance exercises, hummingbirds, and building functional strength. Start with 3-5 lbs.

Padded Yoga Mat

Your foundation for floor work. A thicker mat supports joints during movement practices and meditation.

Hanging Bar

For spinal decompression and shoulder mobility. A doorway pull-up bar works wonderfully.

Trigger Point Ball or Tennis Ball

For myofascial release, psoas work, and releasing tension patterns throughout the body.

Foam Roller

For thoracic mobility, IT band release, and general myofascial work.

Time Blocking for Consistent Practice

Start Small, Build Strong

Recommended starting point: 20 minutes first thing in the morning. This creates a foundation before the demands of the day take over. Build from there as your practice deepens.

Your nervous system thrives on rhythm. When you practice at the same time each day, your body begins to anticipate and prepare for the work—making it easier to drop into a coherent state.

Ideal Daily Rhythm

☀️
AM Routine

20-30 minutes upon waking. Focus on: breathwork, core activation, movement practices to energize and set intention for the day.

🌙
PM Routine

15-20 minutes before bed. Focus on: lordotic molding, gentle stretching, meditation to process the day and prepare for restorative sleep.

As Your Practice Evolves

Once you establish a solid AM and PM routine, you can begin integrating additional movement experiences:

  • • Going to the gym for strength training
  • • Workout and movement classes (yoga, pilates, dance)
  • • Regular outdoor exercise (walking, hiking, swimming)

Your AM/PM routines become your foundation for days when you don't have these immersive experiences. They ensure you always have a baseline of movement and mind-body connection.

Integrating the Three Paths

Your sacred space practice should weave together all three paths of the True Self Series:

Clarity (Breathwork)

Begin each session with conscious breathing. The breath is the messenger between mind and body—where there is no breath, there is no awareness. Use your sacred space to drop into presence before movement.

Compassion (Meditation)

Close each session with heart-centered meditation. Give yourself grace throughout your practice—this isn't about perfection. Self-compassion allows you to return again and again without judgment.

Empowerment (Movement)

The movement practices build resilience, discipline, patience, and humility in the physical body. Your sacred space is where you embody these principles daily through intentional action.

Remember

Your sacred space is a physical reminder of your commitment to yourself. It doesn't need to be elaborate—it just needs to be yours and it needs to be accessible.

"We want to have regular movement habits for the days we don't have immersive experiences. This is the foundation of empowered healing."
